The bed is usually the easiest place to start incorporating layers of texture and interest. As the main character, it needs to have personality and panache.

Play with pillow textures and look for earthy elements such as linen, jute, cotton, hemp, silk, and yes, even wool. Stay far away from synthetic fabrics such as polyester and rayon.

Layer an area rug over the carpet. I would recommend an 8'x 10' for a queen bed and 9' x 12' or larger for a king and position roughly ⅓ down from the bed. It feels incredibly luxurious to step onto a fluffy soft rug first thing in the morning.

Adding artwork to a coastal bedroom can be tricky and so often can become kitschy. Please avoid mass produced and common prints of beach scenes.

One of my top coastal master bedroom ideas that I tell clients is to not rely on the obvious. What I mean by that is to avoid cliché stereotypes for art.

I absolutely love woven grass or bamboo shades. Pair with linen sheers blowing in the open window and you are setting the scene for a perfect coastal bedroom style minus the sand. They provide privacy, depth, and add character while reinforcing natural texture.
